More than 25 years ago, Helical Drilling established the helical pile market in the Northeast and continues to innovate and lead the industry. Last month the team installed helical piles to support a new, one-story retail glass pavilion adjacent to Quincy Market with structural column loads ranging from 30 to 60 kips.
Primary project challenges included: 1) construction in a sensitive, historic tourist area; 2) limited construction access; and 3) difficult subsurface soil conditions that are common along Boston’s reclaimed waterfront.
